MicroPenning

Overview

The most precise way of applying flowable materials to surfaces.

MicroPenning is the integration of materials-to-surface expertise, pattern design capabilities, and the MicroPen® “writing” system. This results in the most precise application of thick film materials to irregular surfaces. MicroPenning also provides product designers with the widest latitude for material viscosity of any technology available and an equally wide range of surface compositions and topologies.

An additive deposition process, MicroPenning deposits the precise amount of material needed, making it beneficial when using novel, expensive, or rare flowable materials. The efficient use of materials and the ease of changing them provide product designers with increased prototype control, as well as reduced time-to-market cycles.

MicroPenning is a “Direct Write” technology. The term, “Direct Write” describes a printing or patterning method that employs a computerized, motion-controlled stage with a motionless pattern generating device to dispense flowable materials in a designed pattern onto a surface. MicroPenning is a micro-capillary technology that uses a proprietary positive displacement method of pumping flowable materials onto a surface, precisely controlling the volume of ink. The pen tip “rides” on the surface of the material, not touching the substrate surface.
